EXPANDED METAL - STANDARD
Standard, or raised, expanded metal is an extremely versatile material. It's easy to control the percentage of open area to suit the application by altering the pattern size and/or strand width, thus increasing the flow of air or light in the finished product. Expanded metal offers a tremendous amount of form-ability - it's able to withstand a 90-degree bend within a 1/4" inside radius without breaking. Manufacturers that are concerned about minimizing operating expenses will appreciate raised expanded metal's cost-effectiveness. The slitting and stretching process produces no scrap or waste material. |
EXPANDED METAL - FLATTENED
Flattened expanded metal is an extremely versatile product that is created by making multiple slits in a sheet of metal, then stretching the sheet to produce a unique diamond pattern. This variation of the standard expanded metal manufacturing process involves flattening the sheet by passing it through flattening rolls, a technique known as ''cold rolling''. This produces thin, expanded metal sheets and stretches the pattern even further, while also providing a smoother, flatter finish. |
